Distinguish Member Award
2025-2026 Nominations Due April 15, 2026
BPW/OHIO members work tirelessly to continue the efforts of past BPW members to make our organization grow and prosper. Our dedicated members volunteer to head committees and hold offices, they donate countless hours to promote the rights of women. They believe in the mission and vision of BPW, always thinking of ways to promote BPW. More than that they are planning ways to make ideas happen and are always mentoring and supporting another’s ideas. Their leadership recognizes there is a need for the encouragement they give to other women to become involved and grow from life experiences. BPW/OHIO has given us a wonderful opportunity to recognize these special members who work to make BPW an organization that continues to “Move Women Forward in History” with the Joyce M. Davis Distinguished Member Award. Is there a member in your Local, Region or at the State Level that this describes? Nominate your DISTINGUISHED MEMBER! A committee will review all the nominations. One person will be selected as the 2026 BPW/OHIO Joyce M. Davis Distinguished Member and will be recognized at the BPW/OHIO 2026 State Conference.

Kathy Kellums
Kathy Kellums was a leader with a passion for BPW/Ohio and the women who volunteer to support its mission and ideals. No one can question her leadership skills and service in BPW/Ohio. And as such, she felt the most important part of leadership was encouraging and mentoring her fellow BPW sisters. From the very beginning of her journey in BPW/Ohio, Kathy hit the ground running. She volunteered, encouraged others, and mentored many so they could experience growth in all aspects of their lives; personal, career, and community. She mentored them in getting the most out of their experiences in BPW, building new leaders for the future. Encouraging many to take advantage of the privilege to hold office at all levels of the organization. Those who were recipients of this attention are eternally grateful. This is the type of individual the committee is looking for to shine a light and appreciation. If you have experienced mentorship and/or encouragement from a brand new BPW/Ohio member, a BPW/Ohio Legend, or any BPW/Ohio member, please consider nominating them for this annual honor.

Legends
Legends is not an annual award. Every so often BPW/OH wishes to recognize those members of 25 years or more who have made substantial contributions to BPW, especially at the local level. These members are the grass-roots, the “worker bees,” whose efforts have been long-term and out of the spotlight.
The most recent recognition was at the 104th Conference in 2024.
